"The Cleveland was part of a task force that left Okinawa for Wakanoura Wan (the name of the bay in which we anchored
near Wakayama) with hospital ships to pick up prisoners of war. The photographs were taken by me or whoever was in the back cockpit as
we flew ahead of the task force reconnoitering."

Dejuma Wharf in the town of Wakanoura on the north side
of Wakanoura Wan, about 5 miles south of Wakayama. The prisoners of war were evacuated
from the Osaka-Kyoto area of Japan from this town and wharf. |
